k. And I aint poken fun at him or questioning how he did it, I just remembering hearing somthing bout after time that flange would start breakin. My quesiton is is that flange strong enough? didnt the factory use straps top and bottom to hold the tanks in place? the reason i am asking is i have a 1964 ford f100 styleside longbox and want to move the tank to the rear frame rails too. and i wann do it right the first time. dont need a goof that costs lives.
The straps that the factory sometimes uses to hold the tank in is actually thinner then the flange. You can make a set of brackets to bolt on the frame to "cage" the tank if you want. Otherwise the flange is plenty strong to hold it in place. Look at home Mustang tanks are held in place, they are bolted in to complete the trunk floor of mid 60-70's.
I'm doing the same conversion in my "66" and I thought that a frame around the tank would be good support. At least that's how I saw it on the 53 ford in the article. I was planning on using some angle iron stock for the tank frame.
I think it will provide the proper offset and/or height adjustment.
Not sure if any help, came across article in truck magazine on tank modification. Looks like they also relocated the spout. May want to run a search, topic has come up on number of occasions.
Another consideration is the Bronco II tank mod. I'm using the original straps that came off the frame as well as the flanges. It also has a skid plate that I'm using as well. The best thing is that it cost me $25 at the junkyard. Here is the link I used as a reference. http://www.angelfire.com/mech/jims65...nkinstall.html

hey guys, I ran into a guy at one of the local salvage yards an he said his son used a granada tank so i went an looked at it an the the way he has it installed is the tank sits up against the crossmembers and then two straps around the bottom. The granada fuel tank has a rubber gromet that the filler neck slides into. and the filler neck can be removed and reshaped. I think the granada fuel tank he used was out of a 78. and the install was in a 56 ford f100. hope this helps.
