my wifes 98 exp squeaks like crazy which is driving her crazy & in turn driving me crazy !
I didn't think it was so bad til I drove it the other nite, man it seems to be coming from every part of the suspension but when I crawl under it can't seem to pinpoint the noise.
I'm going to replace the shocks & go from there.
anyone else with a squeaky suspension and a cure?
the truck has about 140,000m on it and runs great otherwise
I also have a 98 Expedition....
I had the same problem. I replace the rear shocks and it stop.
Now its back but I only hear it in the front.
So I'm going to replace the front one's next.
Hope this helps Al
the ball joints on Expys and F150s are prone to drying out and squeaking. You can check by either driving slowly or compressing the front end at a standstill. It will squeak at small amounts of motion and if it is the ball joints, this should isolate it from other possibilities
Yeah, they can be pretty annoying, with a constant high pitched squeak. It may be too late but you can replace them with Moog joints that have grease fittings. The stock replacements don't and they eventually do the same thing all over again.
