excursion trouble
Hi everyone - I'm new to the site and love all the info it provides. I'm also a new excursion ( 03 w/ 6.0L and 67000 miles ) owner and already have a problem
after only puting on 300 miles of my own. I was driving home last night and took a right turn off the highway when it started to sputter lost all of its power and eventually died. I'm not a mechanic by any means but it was trying to start but felt like it wasn't getting any fuel. I had it towed home and woke up and went outside and it fired right up and ran great for 10 min until i shut it off. My fuel gauge still shows just under a 1/4 tank of fuel - anyone had problems with the gauge being misleading? I'ts still under warrenty with the dealer so i will probably take it in next week. I was just curious if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone knows what the problem might be.

Search the 6.0L forum. There is a plunger that gets stuck. Essentially it stops the flow of oil that "runs" the injectors. It's an easy fix (so I hear) with you just needing to pull it out, clean it up a bit and reinstall.
Now this may not be the problem but it is one of the common ailments with a "no-start" situation on a 6.0L.
