Well guys I know that I am getting tunes from Jody here hopefully soon, along with other things. But I was wondering what happens when you get new mods to your truck such as new transmission, upgraded turbo, injectors ect stuff that is in the orginal programming. Do you take the chip back out and have to pay to have your tunes redone? I would be adding stuff over time but it would get expensive to have to redo the chip after every upgrade. Thanks all
New tranny- not required but recommended to adjust shift points
New turbo- NO
New single shot injectors-YES, truck won't run without it
New split shot injectors- YES
Dual HPOP- YES
Theres only a few things that you can do that would make having the chip redone worthwhile. Dual HPOP, for instance, or dual IPRs. Injectors.
Intake, exhaust, turbo . . . all that stuff, you dont need to reprogram.
Best thing to do, and of course, nobody does, is know ahead of time everything you're going to do and put it in an order that makes sense.
Ok now that I'm done laughing. I tried that. Between changing your mind, life, maintenance, just do what you want and can afford. If down the road, you want to swap injectors, then having the chip reburned just becomes part of the deal.
Now if you get a BTS tranny it is my understanding that something Jody does matters there, but thats about the extent of my knowlege base on what he does.
I know, I call, I say I need this, I get that. I send check. Done.
Well, like Chris said, you're only looking at two probable situations where you would need to have new burns put on the chip, so that's something you would want to factor into your budget if upgrading parts. IIRC, a reburn is not as expensive as a new chip.
And on a side note, i told Jody about my problems at the drag strip the previous night at Smokin', and he told me that the tranny programming for a BTS VB on an otherwise stock tranny is much different than a full pink TC-to-black tailhousing transmisison. So he said pull it, and then within a matter of minutes he had a "new" chip for me, and even edited a few tunes, and guess the cost.

You gotta like that. Why is it again that everybody that deals with DP and BTS are always happy?

Yeah I remember that your second gear wouldn't hook up. He sure cut you a pretty good deal on that  Well mine will be a budget truck for a while, no injectors or such like that for a long long time. But on a budget how to save the tranny, I know Jody's tunes are great on the tranny but like he told me at Smokin it'll last as long as my right foot allows. That won't last long around here with my foot, there is no way I could swing a whole BTS Tranny and TC, so what about the BTS VB last longer or just a waste of money because the tranny will still rip. Thanks guys!

Because they take good care of their customers!! It's a shame there aren't more businesses like that these days. I'm going out to get my PCM code, then I'm calling DP today!!
I know what you mean. I'm starting right back again first thing early in the A.M. In a POS fleet car because mine is in the shop. Let's see, the Christmas lights seem to indicate ABS, Brakes, Airbag and SES while driving down the road. It's all good, just keep on driving. When the oil light comes on I may not notice that either and the car can go where it probably belongs.
