I forgot the name and hope someone else posts it, but yes, I had good luck with a Teflon biased product. It dried up a few leaks and helped some main bearing knocks and blow by in a 351 I had in a van. I feel it got me an extra 30K miles out of the old thing.
It is still being sold - I seen it at Walmart. If someone does not post it shortly, I will look for the name - I think my local NAPA carries it.
I remember, I think. Tribotech, but they have changed the name to tribotech IJP, and do not advertise that they stop oil leaks. I expect there would be something better for your needs.
Well, I dumped a bottle of "CD2" in it and have it idling right now...looked for the Bars leak stuff since I have had good results with thier radiator stop leak, but couldn't find it.
Funny how all the bottles say:
"Gauranteed to stop the leak...if not, you may need mechanical repair"
You mean changing the oil if you have a rod flaying a hole in the side of the block may not help?
I can understand the Teflon products - it makes sense that small surface scratches can be filled in, and a overall plating of Teflon could help a bearing surface - - -
I guess a seal softener could help a seal seat, if your seals were hardened. I doubt it would help if there was a grove wore in the crank, or a tear and missing fabric on the seal itself.
My suggestion? Hang a coffee can under the engine to catch the drips and drive on - You can buy lots of oil for what you would spend replacing the seal.
Lol...I don't mind a quart a day, nor the mess because 99.9% of the time it'd be on dirt. My concern is it getting up in the clutch and getting slippage and then have to rip it apart when I don't want to.
It's just a lot of tedius work and a lot to time to fix a 10 dollar seal
My high school auto shop teacher used to call those snake oils "piston rings in a can". I always got a kick out of that. The only additives I ever use are fuel additives for diesel fuel.
Good Morning, Scott.

Well, just an update, the RMS is now leaking more than before, I used a 1/2 quart of oil in about 45 minutes, before it was maybe 1/8th quart in 2.5-3 hours, it must really be blowing it out as the clutch started to slip too.
Good Morning, Scott.
