Allright what is considered the right side and left side of the truck. I always associate driver and passenger side. So what side would be the drivers side be? Thanks
It depends on which way you're looking. I've always heard that in the USA, left side = drivers side, but that was usually just before my dad hit me up-side the head...so I may remember wrong.
Of course in Australia, they get confused top and bottom vs above and below...
Most use drivers side and passenger side (pax side)...... referring to USA vehicles.
True, mostly to avoid just the kind of confusion that this question is attempting to shed light upon. Of course saying "driver's vs. passenger (pax) side to a person from Australia, Europe, OR Asia will cause them to think just the opposite of what it means to a citizen of the good ol' USA....
2jhanna is 100% correct. The convention most commonly accepted worldwide is the driver's perspective. Hence the right-hand / left-hand drive designatition that is universally accepted. I believe that North America is the ONLY area of the world where left-hand drive vehicles - and consequently driving on the right-hand side of the road - is the norm.
japan,AUS, Britian, i know are right-drive countries, russia and i think italy, france, canada, are left-hand drive. i have looked at cars from all over the world.

Canada is part of North America
I think you are right about Russia, but I was almost certain that Italy and France were right-hand drive. The whole concept of traveling on the left side of the road originated with the Romans (Italy). By traveling on the left, if they met enemies coming the other way down the road, the majority of the soldiers (being right handed) would be able to draw their swords with their right hand and have their sword hand side towards the approaching enemy.

We drive on what ever side is convenient, after all we do pay taxes on both sides of the road.
Also most large excavation sites have left hand drive and drive on the left side of the road.
If a couple big off road trucks have a head on, the drivers are less likely to be hurt.
But when you consider two 300 ton trucks doing 35 MPH head on, less likely usually still means a couple days in the hospital minimum.
fortunately the only people that want to take their spot in the middle around here are in MUCH smaller rides than my f-250 so that doesn't bother me too much.
