Frame mounted tool box?

I was wondering if anyone knows of a frame-mounted tool box. Nothing huge, just a cubic foot, maybe a little more.

I want to carry certain things all the time, and don't have the room in the cab (kids) nor do I want it taking room in the bed (shortbed).

Anyone know of a frame-mounted tool box for Superdutys? Maybe with a locking door?

Would be nice if I could fit a deep-cycle batt in it too

thanks!

Oh, come on now, that would be TOO EASY!

And I'd want to make it out of stainless ... which I actually do have a lot of.

See.. You answered your own question.. If you ask REAL REAL nice.. I might can ask the CAD dept at school to draw up a schematic on a box ;-)

But you know.. That is a good idea.. Where'd you mount it? Be nice to put tools in it for the tires.. Without having to use the bed toolbox..

I'd mount it on the frame rail, either driver's or passenger side (or both!) about midway between front and rear wheels. I've already looked for a place for a battery box, and a 10-gallon air tank. Lots of room under there.

Don't need no stinkin' CAD drawings...I can make them myself anyway ...

I was just wondering if there was a decent pre-made setup that already exists - if for nothing else, then a model to build my own ...

Ford offered right and left lockable tool boxes from 1961 thru 1972. These went into the bed sides in front of the wheels. A rare option seen more on 1961/66's then the later years.

Sorry, I was a UNIX systems administrator for a defense contractor a few years back, administering ProEngineer, CADDS5, and a few other piddly things. I think I still have a valid license for ProE around here somewhere.

I could always shove it through ANSYS and see what it's thermodynamic properties are at Mach 2. OK, too much information

My truck isn't lifted, so you'd have to bend way over to see it

Just what I was looking for - thanks!

Lots of money - too much. I'll make them myself - or find something that works. Too much for the wife, that is...

I know, I could have googled them myself, but where's the fun in that? Plus, opinions from anyone who's already done it would be great

A little big, but the right idea. Plastic has it's benefits too...

But still, around $200 w/shipping.

Wink Try these . . .

These work out nice, not too expensive, and can hold in drawer or box style. Don't interfear w/ box either.
