Bad EGR Valve?
Does anyone know if a bad EGR valve would cause my F150 to act like it has run out of fuel? The truck has the 302 and just won't run unless you stomp it. I read the codes and they point to the EGR valve but I don't understand why that would cause the thing to run so bad.

It's possible... The EGR valve recirculates exhaust gas back into the engine, and if it is stuck in the open position then your engine ain't gonna be gettin the fresh air that it needs to breath. When you stomp it to wide open throttle then the truck is going to be trying to pull more air from the intake, which might explain why it runs better at WOT. I would remove the EGR valve and clean... Easy & free way to get started.

I accidently damaged my EGR one day while working on my truck and after that it would barely run. It kept wanting to die and acted just like it was out of gas - if I mashed the gas down then it would stay running but would harldy even pull the truck.

Hey Tikka Dude, how did you damage the valve? I have had mine off the truck but it looked ok inside; nice and clean. Could I have damaged it during removal? Do you think the truck will run with the thing disconnected?

I was trying to test and see if the diaphram in it was stuck and I pushed on it too hard. I don't know if you can remove it and it still run fine or not.
My boss also had a bad EGR and it's symptoms were that the truck would run just fine at idle until it hit around 2000rpm's and then it would just puke and stall out.
