I had a resistor to prevent my cel light from coming on. Well when I was removing my plenum I cracked it somehow and moisture got in it. It now comes on within 5 secs of starting the truck...well I just so happen to be drinking a 20oz pepsi and as I was drinking it I looked under the cap to see if I won..dissapointingly I didnt win but I said let me duct tape this cap on the factory egr sensor with the plunger set halfway just to see how it works out...well after all said and done , it works...and quite fine I might add...no cel as of yet and I made some full passes on it....I just took the cap wraped about an 1 1/2 inch peice around the cap 2x and tiewrapped it so it wouldnt slide off....
It will get me by for a little while at least , until I can get a new sim plug....
I hope this helps out a few of yall with the same problem...I just hate seeing that orange light (eyesore)
One time a truck of mine had some serious bottom end knocking and I was sure the the motor was done. I just happened to be eating some pizza at the time so then I get this idea. Hmmmm, what if I was to JB Weld a slice of pizza to the oil pan??? I tried it and WOW!!! Problem went away!!! That was 12 years ago and to this day, the truck runs strong. Just last weekend I towed a 50,000 lb trailer up a 2 mile long STEEP hill in 60 seconds flat.
Don't believe me??? Do what you need to do to make your motor knock like hell and give it a try. What do you have to lose??
Ya know... all ya got to do is bolt the EGR valve on the intake with a piece of sheetmetal blocking it, and then plug in the vacuum line and position sensor. The EGR functions normally, the computer is happy, and the motor runs great.
