Idiot is right, hope I don't meet him down the road
He would have been better off using a 8" drop drawbar on the receiver, turned upside down, with a 2-5/16 ball. I have pulled my gooseneck this way, but it was with a LN8000 Ford truck

Like this D. A.? Sorry for the bad photo but it was taken on a cell phone while i was doing 70 mph down the highway in my kenworth (and he was pasing me!) Itsa 5th wheel on a home built reciever hitch setup. But again, look at the brand of truck pulling it. Say;s something about the owner anyway!

1st Picture. - I added some heavy-duty chain for extra support on the tailgate(note that i used the "Sever-Duty 'S' hooks to attach the chain). I also paid-up for some BIG 5/16 sheetmetal screws to attach the frame to the tailgate. Yeah, I know it's overkille, but I don't want to have any accidents.
2nd Picture. - Much of my time was spent on the front porch whittling down that MASSIVE 4X4 board to fit precisely into the ball mount receiver. Also not that I used a 14" chunk of 1x4 to distribute the load more evenly --YOU CAN'T BE TOO SAFE, YOU KNOW!! It cost a little more, but you just can't be too safe when pulling a trailer of this magnitude!!
That was taken by a Utah Highway Patrol Truck Inspecter. The guy was up off of I-15 northbound by the Perry Port-of-Entry. He did not make that far they stop him, After the topper was done laughing, He wrote the guy a ticket for unsafe load, and call a tow truck to the trailer away.
Some people just don't have a grasp on safety. You wouldn't find me near one of those on the road. I'd probably clal the cops. Those rigs are just too dangerous.
Oh man oh man oh man. That is priceless.
I can see it now
Officer "whats going on here"
Bystander "I clubbed him to death"
Officer "I think you're under arrest then"
Bystander "No, look what he did for a hitch"
Officer "OMG!. Well. Good job. Have a nice day."
Get a load of the clearance between the tops of the tires and the fenderwells. I figure he had 190% traction on the rear axle, and 10% on the front wheels.
I wonder what load range tires those are?
