Check engine light

Started my '03 F350 (with 46K miles) to go home today and the dashboard engine light stayed on. Seems to run exactly the same as when I went in to work this morning. I drove it home and everything seems fine. Anybody got any ideas?
2nd question: I was told by sales person at purchase that the engine has 100K warranty. If so, would the diag test be covered?
3rd question: If it's not covered, is there an inexpensive scan tool I can pick up, or should I just go to a programmer and kill 2 birds with one stone?

Jim, let us know what it is...I've got an 03 with the 6.0 and I'm at 43K miles. So far, I've been trouble free.

Yes you have a 5 yr/100K warranty on the engine with a $100 deductible. There is something giving the indication something is wrong with the light being on. Talk to service rep and get it in before you get stranded.

I went to Harbour Freight and bought a chinese CEN-TECH CAN OBDII Scan Tool. Not bad for $50! Anyway, I had one P2285 DTC (Injector Ctrl Pressure Sens Circ Low), and one pending P2285. I cleared the code, but just cycling the ignition switch without starting the truck would latch the pending into permanent and produce another pending. Whether my logic is right or wrong, that caused me to think it was a sensor failure.
After some poking around I found the info provided in the "ICP/EBP Sensor Repair Kit:" section of...
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...73#post3976023
Other info stated the sensor was under the turbo, so I popped the hood and found a connector behind the oil filter housing, kind of under the turbo (a real pain to get at with big hands). I wiggled the wire/connector, cleared the code, cycled the ig-switch to get the pending into the perm, cleared the code again, and, voila...no more CEL.
I am VERY thankful for forums like these, this is the second time I've had success using info obtained from them which has saved me time+money. Thanks to all those who have gone before me!

the icp sensor is directly under the turbo. it is probably leaking oil and will get worse.
