I'm the proud new owner of a '55 F-100. She looks to be in pretty good shape. I need to sort out a few things since she's been sitting in a pole shed for the past 7 years. The mice have been using it for condo and pretty much everything under the dash was packed full of mouse nests and everything else they leave behind (even a couple of corpses).
The smell of Liquid Wrench is gradually replacing the aroma left by the former tenants. I got the wiring harness out of it last night. I didn't know you could use first aid tape in place of electrical tape. Whoever added the aftermarket turn signals was no electrician.
I'll be looking for a lot of help. My last restoration project was a '73 MG Midget and prior to that a "71 Bronco. I'm not completely new to Fords but I've never owned anything this old before.
Welcome to FTE, You've found the right place to cuss and discuss these old trucks. Did someone mention that we like pictures? Come on, bring on the pics!
I've got a whole list of thing the PO of my truck wasn't, welder, fitter, electrician, and I think he was just a general dumba$$ . Some of the things that had been done were just downright scary!

John, if you have the patience to work on an MG, the F-100 should be a piece of cake. I went through two Austin Healeys in my younger and more patient days. Good luck with the project.
PS Don't know how YOU could possibly be in God's Country...I am!
Welcome to the board!! I sure like your description of your project. Hopefully you were able to evict the prior tenants without too much pain and suffering (it sure takes awhile to get rid of the smell doesnt it?) Previous owners have been known to do some pretty crazy things. As Jeff said, the previous owner of my truck wasn't an electrician, plumber, welder, painter, etc....
Sarge513, Welcome again. We definitely like pictures. They also help answer alot of questions we may have regarding what you are trying to do. I always thought God's country was in West Virginia. I am almost done with my 51 rebuild. check out my gallery to get a poor example of everything I was working on. good luck with the truck, ask lots of questions, mainly so I don't look like the only stupid one on this forum.
Have fun, do things that show progress as it keeps you motivated.
As to pictures, start you own gallery. At the top of the forum page (in the blue bar), click on "User CP", click on "Edit Gallery" and follow the instructions. It's easy... especially the second time.
As to God's Country, we like to know where you are from. It helps answering questions as to vendors, etc, and allows folks to hook up with local FTE members. Go to "User CP", click on "Edit Profile" and go way down near the end of the profile page where it asks where you live. Whatever you enter there will show up in the right hand corner of your posts.
God's country? NC is God's country, that's why the sky is Carolina blue! Any place that has as much snow and cold as WI is hell as far as I'm concerned!
Welcome to our home! Tell us what you have planned for your little beauty, full factory restore, a little grey, full entry into the darkside?
We are all represented here, and except for a little good nature ribbing when the powertrain choice is of a different flavor we all get along and help each other as much as possible. This is a very active place, so don't forget to use the search function to see if you question has been covered in depth recently, not that we mind being asked but some of the details may get glossed over when answering the same question over and over, like "where is a good place to buy parts?".
There is also a wealth of info hiding in the articles and specs tab at the top of the page, you'll just have to wade past the late model stuff.
PS: watch what you call old, I was 9 when your truck rolled off the assembly line!
Wow Ax, you're older than you look in your picture. As far as what the po of my truck wasn't, add sober to the list. We had to wake him from being passed out drunk to pay him. I think most of his "mods" were done in that state. Welcome to FTE, and don't forget that squeaking sound when you bounce on the seat may be mice too!
Sarge, I thought trucks in your "God's Country" were always rust buckets from being driven in "God's Winter". Your truck is great looking - how come it is not a rust bucket?
As you might have guessed, I am from the Southwest and we keep our snow (and salt covered roads) in the mountains. We visit winter if we want, but to us, winter just means our roads are crowded with snow birds from "God's Country".

Welcome to FTE, from north and west of Hell. Nice truck! My po tore mine all apart, sold some of it for scrap, and left me the rest. 10 years later, he calls me this morning at 5:00am, needing a ride. Oh, the nerve. Ok, back to topic on hand....nice truc k. Original motor?
