Talking Igniters

Hey! I got a 77 ford with a 400m engine. Right now i'm running 2 1/2 duel exaust with a balance tube. I'd really love to put igniters on it, but was wondering how dangerous this was to do. my exaust runs out on angles about a foot in front of my tires. Can you build igniters yourself with spark plugs and coils? i got a mig welder and can do fabrication if need be. anyway, thanks for any help.

do a google search for them, i believe that there should be a company that sells a kit for dual pipes. you have to find out what system you want . there are to different systems.
1. the ignition shuts off and raw fuel is pumped through the system which is ignited. this requires more oil changes due to the raw fuel washing down the cylinder.
2. You can use a propane tank as the flame fuel. Much easier on the engine.
It is illegal to have on yur truck, if that bothers you. Flame thrower are for off road only. Saftey wise make sure no one is by the exhaust.
check out this site http://www.eatmyflames.com/dual-exhaust-flame-kit.php they have a dual exhaust kit for $55. I believe you have to suppluy the plugs and coil. All the modules and activation controls are in the kit.

Thanks for your help! Do you think the heat would affect my rear tires, since the exhaust comes out in front of them? thanks again

I dont think you would have a problem, the flame only lasts for a couple seconds. It couldn't be any worse than doing a burnout. Most of flames shoot out and up.

haha yeah i forgot about the fact that it was a 77, so yeah ok no need to worry about plastic, but paint still could get messed by flames!, however the first guy to install my exhaust put the turn down right over my ebrake cable and it melted through the cable sheath and the cable in only a couple months, and i only had the 4.2L in that truck, and that was just exhaust! no power adders!

Thanks for being concerned. Paint is not cheap any more. (goes up with gas prices) Stacks would be awesome, but i just started farming a few acres this year which means i am broke till fall when i harvest. I'll tell you guys the results after i finally order a set of flame throwers.
