exhaust backpressure sensor

Hey where is this little sensor located? Can I pull a signal off of it to measure accuratly? Also if it is off one of the manifolds. . . which one is it off of? Just anybody who knows, fill me in on all the info you know about this little guy? No point in the dualing smilies, but they look cool

Look on the passenger side manifold, towards the front, you will see the line, then look in front of the hpop res., down the front of the motor, you will see the line go into the sensor.

The sensor is next to the heater output hose on the water pump (see my info gallery) behind the tensioner the tube runs down to the front of the pass side exhaust manifold.

Yes, it provides a 0 - 5 volt signal to the PCM.

Just pulled my tube and it had a nice hole in it, Stealership mechanic was very familiar with that problem. Real easy to pull tube 17mm wrench under the sensor and on manifold, clean and check for hole.

I removed the sensor, and installed a 1/8 NPT Tee fitting, screwed the sensor back on top, and then used a 1/8" compression fitting to run copper tubing near the air filter and then run nylon boost hose to the gauge in the cab. Here is somewhat of a bad picture, this little bugger is hard to take pics of.

So what kind of back pressure readings are you getting? I still haven't been able to remove my EBPS sensor, I guess I'll have to go buy some new tools, 1" deep socket and a 5/8" crows foot wrench, is that what you used?

pressure readings

So hears my problem, my guage which is currently at the uppipe manifold on the drivers side flutters a lot. I have an orficed fitting in there and the gauge has an orfice in it too. So it tends to calm it down enough where it only flutters about 5 PSI. However, running off the passenger side. . . is that really the best place since thats the wastegated side? Kris how smooth is your guage?

Yes, i recommend running it off the passenger side. Mine does flutter alot, and i hope it doesnt destroy the gauge like it did with my HPOP gauge setup. I might get a 1/8" NPT snubber and install in the line. When i am on it hard between 20-40psi of backpressure, it flutters +/- 2psi up or down, so i average it in between. For example when i see 15psi on the gauge, the gauge is fluttering between 13-17psi.

wastegated side

My other question is since the guage is on the wastegated side, is that really accurate? Wouldn't we want them on the drivers side?
