trim rings question
This probably looks like a really dumb question, but I'll ask it anyway: will 16" or 17" trim rings work on 16.5" wheels? i.e will they fit or stay on, acknowledging the half-inch difference either way

I have noticed some trim rim rings fit snug. I am sure the local parts store will let you trial fit these rings before you buy them. It does seems some rim rings fit and mount differently.

Ford made two different trim rings for 16" wheels. 1971 thru 1979
D2TZ-1210-A .. Trim Ring ~ 11 21/32" I.D. / 16 31/32" O.D.
D2UZ-1210-A .. Trim ring ~ 11 21/32" I.D. / 17 1/32" O.D.
In order to install full wheel covers on F250's and F350's, here's what Ford did. First they snapped on a D2TZ trim ring. Then they snapped on a full 15" wheelcover inside the trim ring. The full wheel cover used was the one from a 1971/72 big Ford: D1AZ-1130-A.
