I have an automatic 1994 F150 longbed with a 300/6 in it. Where do I look to see what the gear ratio and what tranny i have? Does anyone know what the tranny and ratio is? Any help weould be highly appreciated. Thanks
Jack the back end up and put the trans in neutral and spin the tire until the drive shaft makes a full revolution. Count the number of times the tire goes around and that's your rear end ratio.
For transmission ratio, you will have to research the trans you have.
Open the driver's side door, and look on the B-pillar or door jamb close to the latch. There should be a sticker that lists the GVWR and other codes. Search or post up the codes for the rear axle and trans, and whether you have a manual or auto trans. You can also look for a metal ID tag bolted to the center of each axle. The rear should be a Ford 8.8", and the tag will be bolted to the back cover. Look for the top and bottom rows of numbers. The gear ratio is on the second or bottom row, but the first number may be covered by the bolt holding the tag. An example would be "308 8 8 xxxxx" for a 3.08:1 ratio without factory limited slip, JSM84
