Some of ya know I got this 77 f-150 4x4 recently and I noticed the other day when I was cleaning it that the previous owner had wraped all the fuses in the panel in aluminum foil.
Am I gonna burn the truck to the ground?
Have I got an unknown elec. issue that I need to work on?
Anybody know a company that offers a bolt in conversion to change the entire system over to a blade type fuse block?
If no, on the above, Anybody got a link to a good wiring diagram so I can change it over myself?
i would take all the fuses out that are wrapped in tin foil. im guessing the p.o. had electrical problems, or was too lazy to get new fuses when they blew. either way, its not a good plan to run it like that.imo. you could buy a new blade type panel at most parts stores, or pick one out that you like at an auto wreckers. when you change it over, just remove the old fuse panel, and label all the circuits as you remove them, and note down what amp fuse that circuit requires.then transfer all the circuits over to the new blade type panel, and fit each circuit with the proper amp fuses. it is time consuming, but it will be easy if you take the time to mark everything first.remember to solder everything, and keep all the wires insulated well so they dont short out later(i used heat shrink tubing)- good luck.
Before u replace all fuses, clean all the contacts and unscrew the box from the frame. Then clean the back of the box up.Then spray it with electrical cantact , Cleaner and preserver.
