Window air deflectors ?

Tryin to find a great set of side window air deflectors for a crew/cab.
Do you have a set? Do you like them? I'v had a set on my 83 for many years and
they have done a great job of keeping rain, snow, and what not off the arm rest and such.
Lots of styles and a couple of mounting options. Do the window chanel units stay put. Real well. Does your set meet the mirrors corectly. Do they stop the dreaded back of window blast to the side of your head at speed. How about rain
or windshield washer fluid creep up the side windows.
I spyed a set of Lund units on an unoccupied Rig that looked real good. They seemed to mount to the outer rubber area of the window seal. Are they the chanel type, and not really mounted there, just covering it?
I'm not real fond of the 3m tape to the paint idea, or covering the pillar but
if they stay better. we go.
Thanks for the thought.

I have a set on my 03...they were on the truck when I bought them. I'm not a fan of them at all.

They produce noise when the windows are closed. If I was a smoker, it'd probably be diffferent, but I'm not. If I was back in TX, I'l probably leave the windows open an inch or so to dissipate heat build up on hot sunny days, but I'm not in TX anymore.

The wife doesn't like that they increase the size of the blind spot around the pillar.

Do the in channel units offer any protection from sand scratching the glass where the window seats in the closed position? Not really hopping to be looking though scatched glass with the window at half mast. Thanks.

These are exterior stick-ons...not the channel mounts.

I have a set of the Lund stick on ones. I have had them on my last 3 vehicles and I love them. I am not a smoker. The thing I use them for the most is to leave the windows down an inch or so when I go inside somewhere and it keeps the truck cool, but I don't have to worry about rain. I have never noticed the Lund ones causing wind noise, but it does increase the blind spot behind the drivers A-pillar a bit though.

XLnAK,

I have a set of the WeatherTech window channel style and love them had them on my 04 and now 06. I had the stick on style on my 89 and l like the window channel style better. I think the mounting style is more a personal preference than anything else.
They fit well and keep the rain etc out when the window is cracked. Don't feel the rears have any effect on the amount of wind that comes in the cab when the rear window is down.

Good luck

I second the WeatherTech channel style. I prefer them over the stick-on just because I have seen many of the stick-on's flapping in the wind on the interstate (maybe they didn't prep properly before installing them?). There is no protection again scratching the glass on the channel type.

I will second the vote for WeatherTech's WeatherFlectors. I've had them on my last three trucks (all crew cabs) with absolutely zero problems.

They fit snugly in the window channel; snug enough that I have never had any inkling that one would fly away...even with the windows open all of the way.

With the windows opened up an inch or better, I have had no problems with rain, snow, windshield washer fluid, etc.

So, highly recommended in my opinion.

Wink

I vote for Autovent Shade stick on ones. They use 3M tape and stick to the rubber seal round the window vs. the door paint. Have had them on my last 3 trucks and they work great. Tried the channel type as well but they rattle and slip so went back to the tape type.

Have them on the four windows, CC, as wel as the rear power slider. Here is a pic of the rear one under the 3rd brake light.. . .

Yes I forgot to mention, the Lund ones stick to the black rubber trim around the window not the paint. Except on the rear window of extended cab trucks, cause there is no black rubber trim around them. I have never had any of my stick on ones come loose, but I would bet if you didn't scuff the rubber well enough, or clean them good with alcohol they might not stick well. The good thing is all you would have to do is pull them off, replace the tape and install them again.

Lightbulb Huh . . .

Well there seems to be a lot of rubber for the rear one to stick too. See pic . . .

Sorry I meant the rear door windows on the extended cab trucks, not the actual rear window (which would be the same on all cabs).

I get you, you mean those clam shell type windows that open an inch or two rearward.

Yeah, those. Actually I just remembered there are pictures on my 99 with them on it in my gallery. As well as pictures of my 07 with them installed.
