The factory oil cooler is in the top of the engine. I am looking for an auxillary oil cooler that can be installed in front of the grille but can't find one to adapt to the 6.0.

You shouldnt have to put on aftermarket parts to get your truck to perform as it once did. At one time it worked properly? The dealer needs to be able to monitor the engine vitals (pids) while the problem is taking place in order to diagnose the true problem, otherwise they are just guessing. Try to get a tech to ride along with you. If you know the specific conditions under wich the prob occurs, do what it is that you know causes it while the tech is watching. The dealer wants to fix your truck.

bendog - you are correct. I shouldn't have to throw aftermarket parts at it. It did work perfectly until 32,000 miles (1 year ago) when the dealer replaced the heads under warranty. I do not run a tuner but it was puking coolant and that was thier fix for it. Since then it hasn't been quite the same, when towing up hill only though. Then in Jan, this year, the EGR cooler goosed the ghost on the road and we had to be towed home. Since then it really started losing power 3 minutes into any long grade while towing. They tested all and it does work great at all other times. They do want to give me a scanner test set to take with me on my next towing expedition. Unfortunately, they said it will be about 4 - 6 weeks before they get the new cables for it. We have a trip planned through the Rockies at that time so I need to have a fix in place by then. The hot engine oil causing a derating makes sense but what is causing it to heat up so much now? The coolant temp does not get too hot, the EGTs never go over 900 anymore (turbo cuts out before we can really get cookin') and the tranny temps have remained under 210, at hottest. I videoed the last event, from the bottom of a long hill to the top and showed it to the shop foreman. Clearly showed the turbo gauge, speedo, tach and EGTs and how they performed and when it cut back at 3 minutes into the run. They believe me but do not know what to replace or fix next since no codes generated and it runs awesome when empty. I am scratching my head at what to do next.
