Question '05 PSD??? Please Help...

Hi All,

I am looking at a F-250, '05, CC, 4X4, Lariat, PSD, Auto. The truck has around 14,000 miles on it, and was a local trade for a new '08. THe dealer is asking around 34,900. The truck looks really good, and the only major things I notice is the previous owner apperently had a fifth hitch in the bed, and there is a small scuff on the front bumper, on the paint. Other than that the truck looks brand new. Before I go and take the leap, I was wondering what were any known issue's with the '05's. I had an '03 like this and it turned out to be a lemon / DSB buy back, and before I trade my current truck, which has been problem free from the get go, I want to see what "lil corks & lil grimlins" are out there on the 05's.

They have offered for me to take the truck over night and see how I like it, and I wanted to see what you current 05 owners had to say before I went and spent the time on this thing.

Thanks in advance!!!

Shoot me the VIN # and I'll run an Oasis from here.. Some dealers like to hide the Oasis with important stuff because they don't want you to know about it..

I would worry too much about "problems".. We've all had our share of issues with the 6L.. The fact is you still have 36k mile warranty as well as your 100k mile warranty.. So your clean there.. I would take it like this,

1. get an OASIS on it..

2. Take a look at it, check for any leaks and anything suspicious and bring it to their attention.. Tell them you want it fixed..

3. Tell them you want that scuff fixed (i'm sure they have a body shop) or you want $500 removed from asking price for repair of paint.. Worked for me

4. Take it for the night.. Drive it, see how it runs.. If it's 4wd.. Go 4wd in it.. You can't test a true 4wd on pavement.. Anyone who does that has some issues.. I took mine through mud and tested the hell out of my 4wd.. Took it back with it covered in mud.. Course I bought it but regardless there's no true way to test that system unless you get it a little dirty

If your happy then get it... I 2nd guessed myself alot with mine.. Now I know if I had passed it, then I'd been unable.. Course I snagged mine at end of the year with 26k miles on it and paid $26,000 for it

Thats what I'd do tho.. Hope it helps bud!

My 05 is the best truck I have owned to date. I have never had a Ford related problem with it. I have had a problem with an aftermarket part but that's another story. The truck runs and rides really smooth ( for a one ton ). I don't have anything bad to say about it. I would take the truck over-nite and drive it really hard. Test it the best you can and see for yourself how it drives and takes a beating. They are very strong trucks and mine will take alot of abuse. I tow a 7500lb horse trailer on the weekends and this truck is more than up to the task. It has all the power I need with extra to spare. The brakes work well too. Good luck with your choice.

That price is high, I think, as I bought my '05 new and paid about the same. I got mine in Aug 05 after 06's were on the lot. It had about 200 miles on it.

I bought mine new in Jan. 05 and am extremely happy with it. It's not a 4 X 4 but it is loaded and it cost me $36,700. Was stickered at $44,200. Sounds like yours may be a bit on the high side. Might try a little negotiating. Can't hurt. Good Luck.

Storm,

Here is the VIN:

1FTSW21P35EA90592

I just got the VIN a few minutes ago. If you would run the oasis for me, I would GREATLY apperciate it!!!

As for paying the 34,9... for it, that won't be happening. You never pay what they ask for it, they will be coming down if they want to sale it to me. Thanks for everyone's input.

Anyone elses?

Thanks again!!!

If not he said he'll try again in the morning.. Never had this problem before lol.. Maybe this truck has bad luck and doesnt want us to see the OASIS ;-) LOL Kidding! We'll get it tho..

I wouldnt hesitate to buy an 05, I bought my 04 with 16,000 miles and was worried at first after everyone told me how horrible the 6.0s are, Now im at 50,000 and its only been back to the dealership twice for simple little things. Wouldnt trade it for anything. They made a ton of changes from 03-04 and a ton more from 04-05, so by 05 pretty much all the little bugs are worked out. One of the big keys to these motors in proper maintinence, and they like to be worked
