These old 3spd are so simple. You pretty much only need a feeler gauge set, 1/2 and 9/16 wrench and a snap ring plier to rebuild one. The shop manual tells you exactly how to do it. Just the only thing with manual transmissions is they cost more to rebuild than an automatic.

I guess I lucked out in finding a good parts trans and a friend to rebuild it. The total cost with new bearings and seals was under $300.

There wasn`t that much wrong with mine, just a couple of ruff gears and while it was apart I had some new bearings, gaskets and seals installed.

That does sound fairly easy to rebuild one. You ever play around in one yet Nathan?

Back to the orginal topic...
I never did make out to Langham to see the 53 today.
I figure if I drop $5,000 or less into my 53 M100 I`ll have a nice truck if I can find the time.

Yeah 5 grand into your truck would make it pretty. Least be a good start to making it pretty, and you would have things like how you want it.

Back off topic,
I did start to rebuild a 1951 Warner T87D HD 3pd tranny but quit since it was going to be expensive and I didn't have a flatty anymore.

Makes sence. Would have been neat to try, but would have been worthless for ya.
