107K and pampered, This truck has started in the coldest of Colorado conditions, even when not plugged in. All of a sudden this spring, the poor old girl refuses to fire. Unbelievably the batteries are strong after this many years. I have to let her sit for two (at most) weeks between trips. Does this mean a full GP replacement and how much is that going to cost me? What can I do to get her back on track? Thanks for your help
Do you mean it won't start at all or it won't start easily as it always has? Have you tried to plug it in for a couple of hours before you try to start it? Have you checked the oil level in the HPOP? Do those two things first. Check the #22 big fuse under the hood. One of those three things may get it started again. If not you may need a CPS. There's a new one out that only costs $25. Yay!!! Buy one anyway and keep it in the glovebox with a 10mm wrench. Let us know what you find.
Excellent, thanks for the tips guys, I will try them tonight and let you know the results. FYI, It won't start after repeated cranking and intermittent white smoke, not sure if the tach moved or not. Outside temps in the 40's and 50's. Where is the HPOP located?? Thanks again,
The other thing you may try right now, is go out and jump your GPR. It is under the powerstroke cover center of the engine, two big posts and two small posts, put a piece of metal across both big posts for 30 seconds, then get in and crank (don't wait to start.) that will let you know if your glow plug relay is bad
