Everyone, post your Bronco mods here!!

I just bought a '78 Bronco XLT 4x4 with a 351M auto. This is my first Bronco (always been a pickup guy) and i'm wondering what are some things that everyone else has done to their Broncos. This is just going to be my daily driver/trail buggy while I am restoring my other truck, but I'm still interested in what everyone else does to their Broncos b/c this is my first one. So far all I have planned for it is: 33's, a soft top, hitch, push bumper and putting exhaust on it because it doesn't have any rite now. Everyone keep posting, I think we should have a big long thread on this.

I also have a 78 Bronco XLT. These models need very little mods. They already have the 9" rear diff. and the Dana 44 in front, along with the gear driven x-case. They are built "Ford-tough" from the factory.Over the years, I have added chrome 8" wheels, BFG 31" tires, updated stereo, tach, custom grill, anti-theft system, tinted windows. I plan on fresh paint next. It has original on it and still looks good, but has 23 years worth of nicks and scratches. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Don

Had a 78 a few years ago. 400 with 4 speed. Only mods was a holley carb, 6" Superlift, and 38" Gumbos on 10" wheels. Went like %#@& in the mud. Drove pretty well on the street to. Have fun with it. My current project is a 76 EB

427 cammer, I agree! Mudding season is almost here! My 79 has 460,C-6,NP-205 drivetrain with twin dana 60's, 4" susp lift, 3" body and just enough fender trimming to clear the 40" ground hawgs. By the way, PA mud is a good time once you mix it with a few hill-climbs in between.

Well....I just blew the motor in my new Bronco. The tired old 351M went out with a blast and will soon be laid to rest at the local auto wreckers. I guess now is a perfect time to drop in a 429 or 460!!! I didn't plan on doing an engine, but hey...keeps life interesting. Just means the other mods I had in mind will have to wait a while!

I have a '78 bronco also, in the mail is my new: 9" superlift system, dual shock brackets front and rear, 4:56 gears front and rear. Extended stainless brake lines. Waiting on a phone call for the 15x12 Mickey thompson classic II rims. Hav'nt decided on tires yet. Maybe ya'll can help? I would like a (40" or more) not real aggressive tire, maybe more of a sand tire, there aint a whole lotta mud here where i live and i would like to drive it on the highway some. Also i've been searching the offroad mags looking for the stock or 1" body mounts. Do any of ya'll know where i can locate them? Thanks in advance. Any and all comments will be greatly appreaciated. Rob

'83 XLT. pwr windows/door locks, A/C, cruise that all work. 460/C-6 with an edlbrock manifold/carb and a sig-erson hi-flow cam, exhaust ported, 3 angle valve job intake and exhaust. Accel dual point mechanical advance and accel super coil. After breaking 2 limited slips, installed a Detroit Locker last summer. New springs/shocks front and back, it also has what Ford calls the "Quad Shock" front end. The wifey just curbed it in the snow a few weeks ago so I had to replace 1 rim and an axle, now she ain't so fond of that locker Alpine CD with MTX amp and 2 MTX 10's boxed in the back. When I re-painted it in the fall of 99', I replaced most of the chrome and both bumpers. It was pretty sound when I acquired it, just the expected rust on the tailgate.
