The home page is pretty much complete at this point. I will begin working on the img map directory over the next few days...After that, I will wait on further input from you members.

It comes up sometimes for me and sometimes not...Looks great when it is there. I am wondering if there is a problem with it accessing the directory on the host. I am looking into a webhost that will run 47 annually. Not a lot of space but more than sufficient for the needs of the chapter. It has some good perks, and provides more control over the site.

You get that copyright because of the 'right click' script I have embedded. Though pretty easy to bypass, it makes it a little harder to view the source code of the page.

Thumbs up

The first time you use the site, you will be prompted for your name. A cookie will be placed on your computer, and you will be remembered.

Rex is now 'John Doe'...LOL

If ya'll don't like that personalization, I will take the script out.

There are a few pages still on my editor. I will get them on the site, once I am done refining them.

I am playing with ideas right now. Just remember that this is our website, so I do need your feedback!

I have been working on it with my editor, and it is starting to take form. I did upload some to the actuall site, but there is a very big lag, which is a bit frustrating. However, all the bugs and pages will eventually be worked out.

I have found that it is very similiar to dealing with Geocities, which is a bit of a pain, but what the heck...It is a Free Webhost.

We will have the best Chapter Site in FTE!!!!
You don't need to use the web interface to upload files. You can actually upload via FTP, just use port number 1100 in your FTP setup for the site, instead of the standart 110. There should be full instructions for how to do this somewhere in the web interface. It will make working with it very easy, essentially the same as using standard web space, except our headers/footers will automatically be inserted in the page.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...uidelines.html - concerning using outside hosts. If you use the FTP interface you should be able to do everything you need.

Images not coming up aren't because of directory problems. The directory and any sub-directories you create will always be accessable to a browser. The problem is you are accessing the image like this:

www.clubfte.com/washingtonchapter/imagefilename

instead of

washingtonchapter.ford-trucks.net/imagefilename

Our server has code built in which stops outside sites from accessing images. People were linking to smilies, article images, etc. on other sites and myspace as if they were their own, using a lot of our bandwidth. So, if the server sees a request from an outside page it denies it. I missed adding washingtonchapter.ford-trucks.net to the clubfte.com allowed sites. It should be working now with either method listed above of linking to images.

The WaSite is lookin' better every day Mike; color fades, links, nice. In the maps section, that interactive map link i posted has changed to this http://www.bentler.us/washington-sta...maptype=normal . It will drag and drill down to specific locations and the smaller tertiary roads. Sori if I might have missed it there, many are listed.

IMG Map Online

The basic img map of the state is set up.

-Each county is set with a clickable link.
-The link pages are not made yet, so you will be directed to a blank page.

As soon as I have the county info, I will add the drop downs.Would also like some input from members in each count to suggest highlights of their county...This info can be used to create the personalized linked pages for each county.

Please check out the site and the directory link, then give me some input.

Mike

Nice. The county map Direct hotlinks to the government sites instead of clicking a hotlink and getting another page that says something like "click here to forward" again.

On the county map the county names are real blurry, like it was over-compressed (even though GIF is supposed to be lossless it still dithers, so use a flood fill instead. It just needs 2 of its 256 colors but has that quirk) or over-photoshopped with the "sharpen" command. Copying a new county map, enlarging it first if necessary then "sharpening" if needed should fix that (if that's what happened, it just looks like it.) I'll be happy to focus it if you like then email the attachment back to codify

Mike, it's lookin' good and yeah its a PITA. Some of the links open a new page while other links use the same window. So on those that use the same window, a "home page" or "return to main" button would be nice, because its confusing as to which way it takes me since all windows are 'large'. Or make the links all use new windows, whichever.

Near the top of the page, did you mean to have the "Photos" button go to the Photobucket home page like it does, or to a photo folder that is like on our Frappr link?

That is a cool "Select a category" drop down you made. Drilling down "Performance and Parts" > "Ford Racing" > "NASCAR Racing" choice goes to a broken link "musclemotorparts.com expired on 06/02/2007 and is pending renewal or deletion." They forgot to pay the bill lol.

How much are you getting paid for this work?

The map looks pretty good. As you hover over a county, You will get the county name, and a list of members...When you click on the county, you will be directed to the county page.

It may appear that I live in many counties..LOL That is because I used a mouseover and repeated it.

Check it out http://www.clubfte.com/users/washin.../directory.html

I will be takig a break from it for a bit...My Brother in law wants a webste for the Business...That will pay a little better!
