I just got done detailing the superduty today and noticed the chassis and underbody was getting pretty ugly with a rusty look is the anything I can do to fix this problem i really dont have alot of money to put into my truck right now.
I've done the Rustoleum thing on many truck frames, axles and suspension parts over the years. Just use a wire brush to knock the chunks off before you paint and you'll be amazed how good it looks.
Best thing to do is wire brush off the coarse rust and spray on Rust Converter. The rust converter and the rust produce a chemical reaction that bonds itself to the rust and forms a hard black coating. I have done this to many rusted undercarriges and it works great and protects better and lasts longer than paint.
Duplicolor makes a Rust Converter I would use that. Duplicolor paint products are top notch and not that expensive. Compared to Duplicolor, Krylon and Rustoleum are pure crap.
