Is this a direct bolt-on or is there any drilling or fabricating involved?
for what ever reason...I may be one of the only ones that had to do some drilling on a zero drill kit! LOL. The kit comes with U-bolts that hold the lower shock bracket to the axle...you have to remove the stock U-bolt. In my case the stock U-bolt was 3/8" and the new Hellwig supplied one was 1/2"...
It actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise as in order to drill the lower shock brackets, I removed the lower shock bolt and reamed out the hole to 1/2"...no big deal...BUT what it did do was allow me to install the U-bolt with the shock bracket AND NEW Hellwig 3 hole bracket withOUT having to fight the compression of the shock while trying to line up the holes...had I NOT removed the shocks I could see some serious fighting to line everything up...in fact I did a little fighting until I realized on the FIRST bracket that the U-bolt was slightly larger (yeah I'm slow!).
Others on here have NOT had to do any modifications...mine was very small but one I had not planned on...
Good point. Mine was VERY CLOSE! I thought I was going to have to drill - but it did just fit.
Also a good point on fighting the shocks. However, with the Rancho RS-9000X shocks they don't automatically "expand" like other shocks so I didn't have to "fight" them either.
BTW is this normal, or do I have 4 mutant Rancho shocks?
I just did my Bilstein and Hellwig install today went very smoothly and the improvement was awesome......I think Hellwig did some work on there instructions, they were pretty good compared to what I have heard....Fiveights
Got mine today, maybe all you people with extra parts got some of mine since I'm missing a couple of the end link bushings. I hope to find some tomorrow at NAPA or somewhere. Maybe I could take the shocks off my Wife's car and use those bushings, hmmmmm, nope, won't work, her car has struts.
