From say, cloth to leather... anyone? I believe a few have. I love my FX4, but when it came time to buying it, there was no way I was going to be "stuck" with the flow through console to get leather. I am a bench seat guy... always have been. The only thing that I don't absolutely love about my truck is the cloth. The black is MUCH improved over the gray I had in my 04, but its still not great.
I know that there are companies out there (like leatherseats.com) that sell complete seat refinishing kits. This is something that I am looking at. It seems like a somewhat complicated install though. If any of you have been down this road, care to share tips and tricks? Also what suppliers for the covers you used would be helpful too. Thanks
If you are talking true seat cover replacement all you need is a good set of hog ring pliers and hog rings and the tools to remove and dismantle the seats along with patience. Take your time and they can look great, get in a hurry and they will look like DOO DOO.
Factory seat covers might look a tad better but cost more than 2000.00 and not worth that price at all. IMHO
Many large cities have upholster shops that will do the whole job for under 1000.00 installed.
The site I listed, leatherseats.com, is showing a black leather kit for my Supercrew at $730 shipped. They claim that includes all seating surfaces (I would need to check to see if that also includes a new console lid top). I am quite wary of anything online quality wise, but they seem to be a good company (and all products are made here in the US). I might give them a call this week to see what they say.
Thats not bad for good leather all around. I replace seat covers on the Fords regularly and they can list for as much as 500.00 per.... so one bucket seat would take two. Multiply that by all the seats and it adds up to crazy amounts of cash. I guess they dont want too many people upgrading to leather on the cheap right out of the parts department.
Make sure they include headrests too.

I paid my dealer $1200 for having a Katzkin dark charcoal leather interior put in my 07 SCrew XLT with front bench in early January. That was his cost. The Katzkin set was right at about $750 or 800, when I last checked the web. They did a pretty good job installing it, but it's not quite as smooth as factory leather. A few wrinkles here and there. Overall though, I am absolutely thrilled with the leather. Very high quality - soft like a high quality piece of leather furniture. I would do the same thing again without hesitation.
It used to tick me off that Ford didn't offer leather on the XLTs. Now that I have had this experience, I would never take a factory leather option over these aftermarkets. Never had factory leather that didn't show bad wear on the driver's seat after 2 years. We'll see how the Katzkins hold up, but I am confident they'll be great.
