just wanted some opinions on what my problem might be, im leaning more toward transfer case but let me know what you think
2001 f-150 4x4
i did a little 4x4 in the sand, nothing major just flat patch of sand for about 10 minutes at work, everything worked fine
next day went to drive and the truck had no power off the line, shuttered and shook under 2000 rpm made grinding sounds and stunk like rotten eggs and now the service engine light has come on
i checked to make sure it wasnt still in 4x4 by mistake and it has disengaged
all sensors look to be connnect from wut i can see no rise in temp, leaking fluid
i think thats all the symptoms for now lol
thanks guys
I wouldn't think that it is your transfer case. Is it or is it not leaking fluid? I couldn't tell from your post. The first thing that comes to my mind is an O2 sensor was knocked off or damaged while playing in the sand. Second thing may be a crushed or damaged cat converter due to the rotten egg smell. Is it a grinding or a rattle that you hear? If it is a rattle, I would definatly suspect the exhaust. Let us know what you find. Good Luck
