I am working on an engine swap for my daughters 65 I pulled the 352 and had a friend give me a 390 to put in the 390 had an electronic dist and has a smaller distributor shaft. I am looking for info for a point type.
The electronic distributor in the 390 was what... a duraspark or aftermarket? I can tell you that the shaft diameter for a C5 FE point, a C8 FE point and a D5 FE duraspark are all the same. Just miked them in the garage at 0.39".
Mike I thought they were too untill I looked at them I used a caliper and they are different.
John
That is what I was trying to do the housings are the same but the inside shaft that the gear rids on is different and the block will not take the 352 dist without my drilling it. I realy dont want to drill the block to make this work.
I also put this in the fe form got to get it fixed
I am curently wondering what the engine i took out of the truck was I pulled another dist from another engine I had and it would have fit called parts house found a dist for a 73 360 for $50 instock going down and check it out if it fits it will go in the dist that came out of the 65 pn was d2tf 12127 ma 1g21 I think I might have gotten two projects mixed up now not sure
well did not confuse the projects someone made the wrong distributor fit which explains why the engine had no oil pressure which is why I was replacing it
D2TF-12127-MA = D2TZ-12127-M = 1972 F100/350 360/390 C-6 or manual transmission. This is a POINT type dizzy.
Difference between 1965/71 dizzies: One piece point plate (replaces two piece on earlier dizzys), different weights, vacuum advance. The shaft on this dizzy is DIFFERENT from the D5TE dizzy.

You are the 4th member I've responded to today with dizzy issues.
The vacuum advance for the D2 dizzy is: D2TZ-12370-G (Motorcraft DD-342), but you can use the one from the 352: C5AZ-12370-A (Motorcraft DD-190)

it is in and works good the one at the parts house was a match the truck is finally running now all I have to do is get the charging system working and fix the exhaust leak
old piles naw they are great trucks. I like working on these old trucks the new stuff is no fun. the bad part is the projects just seem to keep on going. I pulled my 240 apart to put a new cam in it. The cam gear for the dist went out next thing I know I have the head carb intake and exghaust all being flowed now I am pulling the bottom apart for a complete rebuild and thinking about pulling the body apart for a complete paint job. the good news I can do most of the work the bad is that the list just keeps growing. I think I might be getting carried away. and I still have not started on my 47. I now know why my dad has wanted me to get this one running so bad though he wants it.
OP had two threads and two dizzys. First dizzy he tried turned out to be a 1975 F100 DuraSpark 360. The second was a 1972 360/390 dizzy, point type. Think he went to a parts house and bought a 3rd. It's in and truck is running.
