considering buying a 3.0 from a '97 Taurus to rebuild while I drive the still running engine...there is a guy in down that will do a short block for 400.00 the question issss that would be the same block right anyone

The '97 Taurus 3.0L vulcan short block is the same as the '97 Ranger 3.0L.
When you go to put it together, just make sure you use a waterpump and headgaskets from a RWD vulcan application. The FWD versions have a "reverse flow" cooling system design.
