Trucked Died Today
Today I was hauling a lite load and pulled to the side of the HWY to check the tie downs, and I kept the truck running. When I pulled away and started to speed up to return to the lane the truck had no power and stalled. Several attemps to restart were in vain, I was able to get it to limp about a mile and a half then called a tow truck. It now sounds like an old two cyl farm tractor running on one cyl. The puzzle is that I have no engine service light. I have a 2000 F250 running the Edge and last fueled up 101 miles ago. The only other problem I ever had was a CPS failure. Any one have any ideas

Welcome to FTE,
That sounds like a UVC harness come loose. Check your connections where they go through the valve covers. Seems to be happening a lot lately. For more info, do a search using the search feature on the blue bar. Type in UVC and in advanced search you can narrow it down to the 99-03 diesels. You will find lots of good info on the repairs.

Ok I checked the UVC wires they looked good and I changed the fuel filter, I swapped my CPS with a truck at work and it ran fine. I used a scanner from work and it showed a 1298 code IDM failure / internal IDM failure. I cleared the code and can not get it again I guess it may need to be under load to trigger, but the truck will start and idle rough. Once in gear it really starts to shake a stumble. Can the truck start and idle if there is a problem with the IDM
