Talk about a frustrating ordeal. My 05 6.0 decided to start f-ing with me. First by refusing to start on a return vacation while on Floridas turnpike. And then by starting only ever 3rd or 4th attempt whenever and where ever. I even had the beast towed by the Ford roadside assistance to the dealer only for a phone call telling me to come get my truck. 'Cause it starts just fine.....
The mechanic did his best to explain to me that he needs to "witness" the event in order to be reimbersed by Ford. I do understand and never lost my cool with him. I respect that he has hoops to jump through but when I have a fully loaded 350 King Ranch on order with this dealership I would suspect it just might be appropriate to go out on a limb and fudge the paperwork if need be.
Customer relations 101. This is my 3rd Superduty in 6 years for crying out loud. Oh well, enough whining. Sorry.
I took it over today just to see if maybe it would act up after hooking the computer to it and......It started. 4 times in a row. But that 5th attempt was a go. OR no go as it were. He caught it. The parts are on order. All is well.
Either laugh or stay pissed. I'd rather laugh and hope for better luck with the 08.
While hauling fifth wheel I stopped for fuel - engine running fine. Failed to start. Called son - a Ford certified diesel mech. His long range diagnosis - a high pressure lube oil leak that became noticeable when oil was hot. Nothing like taking up space in a Flying J fuel line. After 1.5 hours gave it a try as tow truck was backing up to hook up and engine started. Ran fine. Drove another two hours to campground. Left engine running while setting up then drove to Ford dealer. Couldn't have been something simple like a leaking injector O-ring. Repair required removing turbo to get to rear of engine. Took six days - including weekend - to get repair kit and repairs accomplished.
Youre right about blocking the fuel line. Geeez. What I left out was I was driving our 40' DP RV and my 17 year old son was driving the PU with a 26' boat in tow! Not an easy train to stay out of folks way!

So...what parts did they order? What do they believe the issue is? Just curious...
