In SE Virginia where I live you can still buy both LSD & ULSD. The LSD is cheaper on average. I am buying it now for $2.85 / gal.
Do you know for sure that what is labeled low sulphur is not ULSD that just hasn't had the new sticker put on the pump?
ULSD hit the pipeline early and didn't get labeled as such until the 'pipeline' was thoroughly 'flushed'. Then it was properly labeled, and it's possible some pump labels haven't been updated.
has anyone had injector pump problems with the older motors and ulsd fuel? one of my coworkers has an o4 6.0 and runs nothing but off road lsd while another friend has an 05 6.0 and after 1500 miles of ulsd has lost an injector pump and after it came out of the shop, burnt up the injectors within 500 more miles. could somebody shed some light on this for me
In my gallery (under the heading of fuel) are images of the three diesel fuel stickers that must be applied to all diesel pumps.
My local truck stop has 6 lanes of 500ppm Lowe sulfur and 1 lane of 15ppm Ultra Low Sulfur going at the same time. Refiners have several years to be 100% ULSD and due to the needs of the off-road/construction and railroad market, they still refine and mix higher percentages of diesel as well.
I have personally been running 100% ULSD (15ppm) since last October with zero problems. I wanted to run it consistently to see if I was going to have any problems before my 100,000 miles warrenty expires... and I am glad to say that with 95,500 on the ODO... all is well!!!
I do runn double dose of Powerservice in every tank as well... so keep that in mind and have done since new in 2003.
