Probably just a wire that you must disconnect and terminate.. that's if it only asks if you are in drive... if it does it in park, it's more than a wire, definately aa part of the program.
I just picked up a 08 250 PS yeasterday... What a sweet truck, but I do agree that the NAV system disclaimer screen is an unnecessary pain in the butt. I am on the hunt for the hack... Surely someone will figure this out
Craig
The warning screen is not a big deal. The real pain in the A** is the speed sensor the forces you to stop the truck to punch in a destination.
I hacked the factory NAV unit on my 2006 Chrysler SRT-8. I changed a few bytes of code on the data DVD. The DVD stored the Firmware upgrades that reflashed the nav unit with the new code. This happens the first time a new dvd is loaded. I hacked the moving speed limitations and some maps. Now all features on the Nav can be used when driving. No need to stop the vehicle to punch in directions or find POI's. I've also found a way to pump in a video into the NAV to watch movies. Two companies also sell a box (NOTE: I'm talking about the Daimler Chrysler Alpine REC Nav units. Not the Ford Pioneer units) to allow Video in but you need to open the unit and solder a few wires.
I have a NAV in my 2008 F350 6.4L but I don't have much free time to hack this unit. I'm not sure how or even if the firmware can be flashed on the ford Pioneer? units. As for the video it looks pretty crisp so I don't know if it's a simple RGB signal or a true digital single to the LCD. Being a touch screen it's probably a true digital signal. So pumping in video signal into the ford NAV to watch movies and/or for a backup camera might be a challenge.

I know its a PITA to have to stop and punch in a destination...um but there is a reason why its that way. If you did hack it and were "punching in a destination" and not watching the road....and you run your truck into the back of mine!...and then you tell me that you were busy "punching in a destination" on your NAV system and was not paying attention to the road......um yeah that would just not fly, my point is that they designed it that way for a reason.....so Idiot's who get in accidents (cause they were not paying attention to the road cause they were fooling around with the NAV unit) dont turn around and blame Ford for their accident. They also need to do the same for people who text and talk on their cell while driving(with out hands free equipment), I have almost been ran off the road a few times cause of people not paying attention to where they are going, BC they are texting or talking on the phone....and Not paying attention to the road. Ok I'll get off the soap box lol!

You have a valid point but most of the time I have a passenger(Co-Pilot) to punch in the data. The Manufacturers are worried about lawsuits but it's actually irresponsible and more dangerous to force a truck and trailer off the freeway, driving for miles to find a safe neighborhood and a space large enough to stop. All to do a correction to your destination. The passenger could of done that while on the road. That's why I hacked mine.
The NAV blocks entering destinations(the most important feature of a nav unit) but allows the use of 100's of other complex distracting functions that work while moving.
I see your point about pulling to the side of a freeway or two lane highway to change a destination on the NAV unit...............I think they need to do voice recongnition on these Nav system's...all of them, or allow you to modify your routes atleast.
