If you are looking at the MTZs, i would seriously look at toyo's Open Country MT. I have worked several times on a truck lifted with 37" MTZs, and those tires hum, loud. And starting off or making a slow turn, you can feel each lug contact the ground and make the truck shake. The guys running toyo's are loving them, im going to 33" toyo MT's when i fit the wheels and tires into the PMS budget. The MTZ's don't wear too well from what several owners ive talked to say.
I ran the mtx radials on my 96' once. They were a great looking tire, but the performed like racing slicks in the mud and snow. I do not recommend them. You should look at the BFG AT's they are the best tire I have ever run. You pay a little more for them, but imho they are worth every penny!!!! I have run them through 16" of snow with drifts a little deeper in 2wd and could not get stuck!! They would just dig and then throw you about 10 or 20 feet and then you would lose momentum and just start digging again. I usually get 70 to 80,000 Mi out of them as well. Plus you can get them in E rating in alot of big sizes.
I am currently runnng 35" toyo AT's and I love um. Little if any road noise. Ride is very smooth. I haven't had them in the snow or mud yet so I cant comment on that.
Mann56, no they will not, the bolt pattern is different along with the backspacing.
Actually no, the 05-07 SRW trucks and 99-04 SRW trucks both use the 8x170mm bolt pattern.
Issue is the backspacing....99-04s is ~4.5", while the 05-07 is ~6"........so a 05-07 SRW wheel will bolt onto a 99-04 SRW truck, but they will be tucked under the truck a decent amount and most likely will rub on the leaf springs.
i run the mtx (LT315/75R16) i think theyre great. they work great in the dirt and sand. aired down i have pulled out a drw dodge 3500 w/ a 35' travel trailer out of soft sand.
cant comment on the mud though, havent had it through any yet.
ive got about 10k on mine and they still look new. id say about 90% left.
they ride great and have no more noise than a regular tire of the same tread.
