See if you can find a place nearby that outfits work trucks with service bodies for utilities and contractors. They usually swap a pefectly good bed for a knapside or omaha std service body. I know of a couple of places in Virginia that do these kinds of swaps all the time. They always have 8-10 beds sitting around. They usually go to body shops to replace wreck damaged beds.

Not sure where you are, but in this part of the world beds are plentiful and pretty cheap. It almost seems like it's about to the point that more 3/4 and 1 ton pickups are running flatbeds and utility beds than factory beds. More often than not the factory beds that they replace are new or like new.
Like dagren99 said, check with places that sell/install replacement beds - even if they don't have any sitting around, there's a good chance they can steer you in the right direction. Also check salvage yards - some of them buy alot of the takeoffs.
