Just came back today. I found out that the trans was an AODE so I finally installed an AOD onto a 302 engine and set it into my 1997 Ford 4x4. It worked out so far and good. I am sure that other non-electric transes will work but not sure how many will bolt to the 4406 correctly. I know the output spline in my 4406 is 31 and had to have that installed into the AOD by a friend of mine. This in the beginning was all experimental. Now, the experiment worked and the 302 engine sets into a 1997 Ford 4x4 like it should have to begin with. I love the 302 for its all around use.
I agree but in my case since I am not really wanting some hard push but just a little decoration i think this will be ok for the time being. I would like to have been able to go with all the modern engines and such but money is a question to me and with all the new hardware it makes me feel like I lost my wallet. I like the old style which fits my old mind but I also ponder the ideas of taking the 4.6 and installing me a Holley 4 on it. I wonder how a Caddy engine would fit into the 97 4x4 150. I put one into an El Camino once and had to use the Eldorado oil pan to set it. Worked like a dream all the way to Florida. Those Borgs work with a lot of trans. I once saw a fella use a tiller motor to start his car engine but forget why he could not use a starter. I think it had something to do with not being able to set the starter exact. He figured he could mount a tiller motor under the hood and use a belt on the front pulley and presto the weird combination of motor and trans worked fine. Some damn things seem to work good. I think it was a 440 engine in dodge dart if not mistaken. One time I took a four cylinder Chevette diesel engine and buckled it back to back with a ford 200 six and made one hell of an air compressor. well, take care, floyd
