Thinking about trading my F-150 for a Bronco but I'm a little concerned about the Bronco's short wheelbase when towing. My boat only weighs 2300 pounds... comments?

 

I pull a 3500+ lb 4 wheeler with my Bronco on a regular basis. Doesn't get the best gas mileage in the world, but it pulls it just fine.

I am almost laughing at this question. Hey man look in a damn manuel do you know what the maxium trailer weight is for a bronco is? 11,500 Pounds but that is correctly equpied. Yeah easy man you could hual 2,300 pounds with a pontica. I hual a 3 horse trailer which is about 5,500 pounds with 2 horses in it. Yes I have taken three but I need to strenthen suspention for that. I also hual my 3,400 pound sea ray all the time. the short wheel base is good for turning. I have a 95 EB Bronco leather, bush guard, cherry red, everydamn option possible to get on it automatic 5.8ltr 351 winsor. Great engine I have taken up some serious hills with loads. Hes right gas mileage is not going to great with any truck. I have had two broncos a 89 and a 95. I sold the 89 for the 95 cause I needed the bigger engine. The 89 had a replaced 5.0 in it this engine had zero power but on the other hand great suspention. So if you get one get the 5.8 it is way worth it. I smoke my tires with the my 5.8 the 5.0 could not even spin the tires. You may not care about speed but the power diffrence is huge and the gas mileage diffrence is very little. Have a nice time, shopin for your new truck.

Oh yeah breaks are great In the Broncos just beware you can't tell your pads are almost gone until they are gone. The breaks on my 95 are to kill. The breaks sucked on my 89 but than I had a friend/mastermacanic from ford do the breaks and they worked just as well as my 95. So don't get cheap brake jobs. You get what you pay for. Make sure you keep the injectors clean for maxium power, change air filter, every 20,000 mile, change oil every 5,000, get a tool for the oil filter it is to hard to get with your hand, rotate the tires on time if you do anything do that I leatned that quick, get it tuned up every 30,000 miles, don't wait to wash your truck you will find that when it is clean that it has new scratches on it. My words for the needy fallow this at least and your truck shall last forever.


so your truck is running roughe you tell me. yES iT HAS BEEN RUNNING REALLY ROUGHLY JUST DON'T FEEL LIKE IT USE TO. what gas are you putting in it? WELL I HAVE BEEN PUTTING 87 IN IT FOR THE PAST MONTH NOW. oh really did you know that your engine is not running correctly cause you are using ##### gas. 87 octane =no go use the medium at least. OH BUT THAT SHOULDN'T EFFECT THE WAY MY TRUCK RUNS IT IS JUST GAS. less octane less heat less explodtion less power less smooth ness. REALLY I DIDN'T KNOW THAT. It's alright. HEY I PUT 92 IN MY TRUCK LIKE YOU SAID WOW IT IS RUNNING 100% BETTER THANKS A TON I NEVER REALISED THAT. sure thing buddy just remember more explodtion less you use the peddle cause more combustion for less gas means more speed better gas mileage. 95 EB Bronco All options leather autmatic 5.8ltr winsor 99,000 miles and will still make your face feel like it is going to come off with anymore force.

 

Sorry... I wasn't clear. I had no doubt the Bronco would pull the boat and stop it... but I've experienced problems in the past with short wheelbase vehicles "getting squirrely" in hard braking situations when towing.
