on my '00 e150, 4.6 occasionally on a cool, rainy day, or at noon when parked uphill, my engine stalls just after startup. It ramps up to about 2000 rpm, then dies. I can keep it running after start by keeping a slight pressure on the accelerator, like we used to before ECM and fuel injection.
There are no computer codes. The fuel pressure on the fuel rail is good at 30-40 psi, and the pump does about a gallon in 5 minutes. I replaced the fuel filter, and that's a tough location with the new duck tools. I recently replaced the spark plugs, about 3000 miles ago.
No longer confused or perplexed, the idle air control valve is easy to access on the E150 through the doghouse. I removed it, blew some air inside, and put it back on. If it happens again, I'm wondering if I can blow some carb cleaner in to clean it some more?
I can only imagine where the IAC is on the F150, must be hard to get to.
Thanks for the info and I've placed this site on my favorites.
