I got a 98 F150 XLT with 5.4L. I want to change the exhaust. I want true dual exhaust, I dont know with what mufferls to go with. Or maybe no mufflers? I like the deep rumbly sound. When i start the engine and roll down the windows I want to hear a healthy V8. I am also looking to gain mpg and maybe even HP/tourqe. Im thinking of Flowmaster or Hooker. i want to go as cheap as possible too.

I'm sorry, but I find your post humerous.
You want 1: A decent rumble, 2: A gain in MPG and maybe even HP/torque, and 3: You want to go cheap as possible.
Answer: Stay with stock if it is intact. If you're serious then you probably need to drop some big coins. When my stock system shoots craps the only thing I will put back under my truck will be a stainless steel system and duals are just extra money wasted unless your doing big horsepower. And then you can use headers to really get the most out of it.
But if you want to go cheap, that won't be a problem. It will just cost more over time.
No mufflers ? :-staun Where do you live? Don't you have emission tests? It is almost just as good to go with a larger diameter pipe, free flow muffler, and or free flow cat. system.
Best thing I ever did to my supercrew....took the muffler off and installed a straight pipe in its place...got the rumble, just enough to hear it when you get on it or always with the window down. That and making an open element K&N air cleaner got an extra 1 1/2 miles per gallon. Just my 2 cents worth. Whit

I put a Flowmaster 40 on my 02 F150 5.4L 4x4. I went with 3" from the cat to the front of the right rear tire. It has more than enough rumble, even with the windows roll up. All for $150 installed.
