I have a 96 Explorer that has had electrical issues in the past. In fact, I took it to the dealer about 2 years ago, for a problem where the 4x4 lights would flash off and on, and would not engage. At the same time, the power windows would not work.
Now, this has happened again, the 4x4 lights flash off and on, it will not engage, and the windows are stuck . Also the interior dome lights do not work as well.
I am thinking maybe a relay switch, but I don't know..anybody have any words of wisdom?

 

Do a search on 'GEM', this is the computor that controls these functions.

 

Check ALL the fuses too.
