3 questions
1. What is the differance between a 99 and a99.5 ?
2. I just bought a 99F350 2 weeks ago. I am very light footed and when I am accelerating at about 40 MPH it goes into OD and RPMs drop like a rock. Its almost like it goes from 2nd to 4th gear (but its is not). 3:73 rear end 4x4. Is this normal ?
3.Will question 2 hurt the truck? It just seems like it is lugging it. OR do I just need to put my foot in it more. I am use to driving a 5.4 with 4:10's

1. smaller injectors, turbo, air intake through the wheel well
2. in stock form if you are not accelerating somewhat hard it will drop into OD around 45 and should put you right at about 1450 rpm
3. as long as it is not a harsh shift you will be fine. A slamming 3-4 shift is a sign of the trans hurting

Thanks its not shifting hard just seemed premature. But the speed and rpm are as you stated, and it is stock.

What was the build date break. and whitch are you refering to 99 or 99.5
Mine was a 3/6/99 truck

I noticed that mine also goes into OD prematurely. I think it is just that I have not learned the throttle position well enough yet. Drives me crazy though, so I just leave OD off when I am in the hills of Maine. Was hoping that I could tune it more to my driving with a tuner though?

Not sure the date break but 3/99 should be a "Late" (99.5) I believe.
Look at your air intake if it has a snorkle running forward next to the driverside battery that is a late 99 intake.
