Kent, you've got a good point. The running boards would have to increase 8 inches to accomodate the 8 inch longer wheelbase, assuming the fenders are the same. The rest of the difference (+10 inches) would be aft of the rear fenders.
And the diagram brings up a second good point. The short bed is 6.5ft, not 6ft like I said. So the difference between long and short beds is 18 inches.
Call off the dogs. I just fixed it. It seems my fender set in the back room with junk on it untill it sprung. I got agravated enough today that I didn't care what I tore up and twisted the fender enough it went in. Tried the other side and it went fine. I kind of feel silly now.
The fender was. I thought all of the bolt holes lined up with the bedside, but with the fender setting on the running board I must not have seen it right. I bolted the rear of the fender on and the just pushed the front back untill it cleared the running board and everything fit.
Thanks for the help and please stick around, I'm not through yet.
Looking at the above dimensions I would say there would be 8" difference in running board length ( same as difference in wheelbase) as the bed extends 10" more beyond the axle and the difference in bed length is 18".
