92 f-250 fuel switch problem

92 f-250 fuel switch problem
our 92 f250 is having an issue with the fuel switch. when you flip it the truck dies. Sometimes when you flip the switch the truck with run for awhile. when flipped it doesnt sound like the pump is running. can someone help me trouble shoot this system?

This diagram should be close and you can check out the Selector Switch on the Dash from it.

EDIT:
Make sure you use a loading device (test light) and not a meter to troubleshoot this circuit or you get all kinds of wrong readings.
