Great reply or call sadi, sounds like Alvin's truck might have a case of emphysema.
Run a slug thru the pipe to see where the obstructions at.
Whistle tips are illegal in my area.

It's bad for a Ford FE to make a tweety-squeaky sound like an old VW bug right?
Maybe I should borrow a "pig" from El Paso Nasty Gas? :)
Checked the compression today.
Had to warm it up first and guess what, no whistley squeak from any thing. :)
Same stinkin thing that the vacuum leak pulled on me. :)
As long as this sort of sound -isn't- a symptom of a leaky or burnt valve/s... then no sweat, i ain't afoot.
One cylinder was 125psi a couple were 115 and the rest were 120.
Trying to figure out how to check my hydraulic valve adjustment.
Steve Christ says to use channel locks... that doesn't seem to work for me (so far) I can't seem to get a hold of the rockers good enough. I'll try it again tomorrow but looking at making a tool for that job... out of a "normalized" file again of course. :) Got like 8 more of them. :)
Don't ya just love the "mystery noises?" I forgot to mention I had a whistle once and it turned out to be a burr on the screw slot of my carburetor plates.
Wow are you guys gonna think I'm a moron (maybe because I feel like one). But, I found out what the loud scissor like noise was my engine was making! No, not push rods too short; no, not rocker shafts that might be for large FE mechanical lifters; no, not a bad cam or crank.
But, (you guys are gonna love this) the plug had fallen out of the back of my big 750 Eidenbrock carb and was sucking vacuum under the air cleaner between the valve covers like a tornado. I plugged it back up, reset the mechanical idle, and it runs as smooth and quiet as can be.
Know how I found it? I was running the engine and reached behind the carb to open the mechanical choke and the thing sucked the back of my hand up tight.
Ok, so now can I put my chrome rocker shafts back on? They have one large hole for oil under each rocker arm, where the stock ones have 2 small. (I bought a used set of rockers off a working engine and installed them to see if oil to the rocker arms and push rods was the problem).
