There is a wiring harness and a relay that came with your truck, probably in the glove box. It has 5(if I remember right) wires coming out of it. You splice your brake controller into this and it plugs right in under the dash. There are instructions in the bag with the harness. Takes about 5 minutes
I Installed a Prodigy when I got my truck. Ipaid an extra $10 to get the dedicated wiring harness that plugs right in. The plug on mine was a gray plug that comes through the firewall near the steering column. took about 15 minutes to installand adjust the controller. Bought it at Rvwholesalers.com
Tekonsha, makers of the Prodigy brake controller that is so popular on this site, is the only manufacturer that I know of that offers quick connect harnesses for their controllers. This is a plus as it prevents cutting and splicing which tends to always lead to trouble later on.
I picked up a new Prodigy today and got a form for a $20 rebate by mail from Tekonsha. The rebate is good for all Primus and Prodigy controllers and is good till August 25th 2007.
The plug is not on the firewall, it is just behind the lower edge of the dash under the steering column. It is a grey plastic jack that aacepts the plug of the controller harness. I've had 3 other brake controllers and the Prodigy is the best.
