I have a 78 F-150 2wd with a busted radius arm and was wondering will one from a bronco or any other modle year truck fit on it because im havin a little trouble trackin one down
Is there any short cut to replacing the radius bushings? My 73 F100 4x4 is now missing the rubber bushing closest to the front axle. Now when I hit the brakes the front end shifts. Is there any way that you can tug the front axle enough to get the front bushings onto the radius arm or am I stuck tearing the hole fricking front end apart to get them on?
Not sure if it's the same set up, but on mine, (79 F150 4x4) I just removed the bracket holding the BACK of the radius arm to the frame and disassembled the radius arm to replace that bushing.
you can do it in about an hour hour and a half not really that hard. pb blaster and patience. i only know because ive spent the last 3 weekends tearing front ends apart trying to fix ride hight issues in my 2wd. anyone notice that f250s ride higher than 100s even though everything measures the same and after swaping ibeams.. lill bit of info my f100 spendes fit the f250 ibeams. is that to say that if i got a set of f250 hub and rotors that they would fit my f100 spindles? i have the rear end out of a 250 soo now trying to finish off with the rest of the odds and ends. hey scrapyardking. i have a small collection of radious arms what part of the states are you in?
I have actually seen a truck where someone took the inner bushing and cut it into 2 pieces, then slipped them over the radius shaft, the used a 2' hose clamp to sqeeze the 2 pieces together. It was on a 91 explorer. Maybe it was a great time saver and worked great, but I would catch to much hell from my gearhead buddies if I tried to rig up my truck.
I just went outside with a putty knife and a flashlight, they are bolts, not rivets as I was guessng. But that doe smake me wonder about using F 250 radius arms. My F100 noses dives because of the factory blocks on the rear axle.I would like to get my front end up to level the truck. So is it the 250 radius arms or the spindles that lift the front on F250's?
that sir is a good question ive replaced the ibeams and springs from a 250 to my 100 keeping my spendles.... not much of a difference. does that help? the only other thing i can think of is having to use the 250 spindles too. i can tell you that the kingpin set is the same kit for both 100 and 250. let me know if you find any info on this too if you wouldnt mind. from what ive found swaping parts inbetween the two trucks radius arms just hold the ibems in place and are involved in caster angle. whats killing me is finding what controls the camber angle between the 250 and 100
