New dist. Hard start

Im not sure if its in my head or not, but the 87 bronco seems
like is starting harder. I set the timing as what the factory wanted, Can I advance the timing a little bit and get a smoother shorter start? I have new plugs wires, cap rotor . I checked the plugs there still good.
