I am looking at a 78 Bronco and I think the engine is a 351 Windsor but something about looks wrong. The heads look a little bigger. My questions is how can i tell if its a windsor or a cleveland?
Check on the valve cover, drivers side. should be a big sticker that says 351/400M 3 or 4 lines below it will give exact displacement ie; 5.8 = 351 along with spark gap and size, timing ect

a sure-fire way to distinguish a 351C block from an M-block is the block
casting number, located on the right side of the block below the deck of the #3
and #4 cylinders, usually right above where the starter sits. All 351C blocks
have a casting number that starts w/ D0 or D2. M-block casting numbers start w/
D1, D3, D4, D5, D7, or D8. The D1 and D3 blocks were all built (originally) as
400s. The D5, D7, and D8 blocks were used for both 351Ms and 400s
And a M block from a W, by way of the dry or wet intake. A W will have the water neck on the intake, while a M will have it on the front of the block.
