I made an adaptor to pressurize my intake and look for what seemed like a leak that I couldn't pinpoint. Truck runs OK but boost seems a bit lower than I remembered. Applied a constant 10 psi. I see 6 psi at the map connection. I can hear air moving continually. Sprayed soap on every connection. What I found is that the turbo leaks most of the way around between the aluminum "snail" and the aluminum back plate. What would be the best way to re-seal this? Are there any sealers that I should avoid?
I used a 4" ABS clean-out. 4" OD on one end and a threaded cap on the other end that I tapped for a 1/4" air fitting to connect to my compressor hose. I have an external regulator on my compressor that I was able to turn down to 10 psi. Actually I was afraid to apply any higher pressure. It fits the hose for my air filter. I am running a ccv mod so no pressure goes that way. I saw something like it on one of the sponsors sites to do exactly what you describe. Don't remember who it was.
